At my current age, my love for footwear has transitioned into somewhat of passion. A true respect for fine italian, french and british artisanship. Detail specifics that causes a deep appreciation for the finished product. From design, pattern cutting, hand sewing, side stitching, to construction of the sole and heel for ultimate comfort. The likes of Crockett & Jones of Northampton or Corthay of Paris know just how to reach the heart of a man who may look at shoes the same way he may look at a painting by Renoir or Vincent van Gogh.
At the same token, something strange happened over the weekend. Of course, keeping up with current events, I started hearing of reports of stores closing down due to chaos and riots across the nation. Passionate footwear collectors who could not control their emotions for a pair of…Nike’s! Yes, that’s correct Nike sneakers. CNN captures the madness:

I thought back to my childhood and could not remember a single moment when kids were this emphatic about a new release by lets say, Michael Jordan. I guess when Nike only releases a pair of limited edition basketball sneakers (roughly 3,000 pairs) called “Galaxy Foamposites” that would probably never be released again, it would cause some anxiety. After seeing multiple reports of this frenzy even I wanted to get my hands on them. So I made a call to a well known sneaker enthusiast (we’ll call him JM) to see if he could help me achieve something in one day where by many across America literally camped out in tents for a week to obtain. I must say it wasn’t as easy as it sounds but nevertheless he made it happen.
News reporters indicate prices of up to $10,000 on the re-sale market for these Nike Galaxy Foamposites, but over the weekend reports went out of a peak bid of $70,000 for the “sneaker of the year”. http://www.nicekicks.com/2012/02/galaxy-foamposite-reaches-70000-bid-ebay/

Heads up…Current season, winter, and rainy season isn’t too far ahead of us. I 1st fell in love with Mackintosh coats while aimlessly running through the streets of London (Burlington Arcade) in the summer of 2005 and I will say that I absolutely swear by this brand. Durability and waterproof at its finest. Ummm no I don’t get paid for saying that…all for the love of quality goods.

Tom Ford, the perfectionist that he is, in his 1st detailed interview which captures his emotions, intuition, internal drive, his understanding of time and culture. Equally intriguing is hearing how Mr. Ford deals with the reality of taking extreme risks, but understanding self worth beyond the ups and downs of life. The man who built Gucci to the man who discovered himself. One lesson learned…do what you love!!

Taking this moment to thank all who have fallen in love with the Knights&Armours blog, literally engaging yourself by means of commenting or even contacting me for more posts. Your excitement and eagerness most definitely fuels me in more ways than one. For that my appreciation goes beyond words. Equally special are those who have been personally reaching out to me for custom orders on accessories that I blogged about in the past. Back in late November/early December, I decided to forge forward with adding certain pieces to the K&A brand that would not only please the stylish and playful palette with hints of fun, bold and subtle pieces, but would also form representatives of a stylish community who believe in progress. A community of individuals who are advocates of positivity and demonstrates it with each thought and step we take. As I mentioned before there is more to a Knight than simply looking the part. So for the curious minded, I leave you with some photos(IPhoneography) of sample pieces for the collection. Don’t hesitate to check back to this post. Additional pieces will be added as we move deeper into the month. Ironically the majority of these photos shown below are for the women’s collection (as I was asked by many friends not to neglect the greater gender!!).
More importantly, I am looking for suggestions on a well known and reputable charity that serves the less fortunate. Contact me or tweet me with ideas as giving back will be a strong element to the Knight&Armours movement.

I won’t give you my usual detailed mental portrait of how amazing dinner was or how 25 yr old Macallan single malt scotch flowed infinitely into our souls for a night of laughter and positive spirits. I won’t even tell you about the history behind Burns night or the camaraderie this one occasion holds the power to form. No descriptive write ups about stylish people, kilts and bagpipes.
